Advent marks the beginning of a new church year. During this time we ready ourselves for the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We remember
how all the prophecies of the Old Testament were fulfilled through Jesus' birth, life, and death.
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." Micah 5:2
Advent is four weeks long and includes worship services on Wednesday evenings, along with the regular Sunday worship. The Advent Wreath is also used during this time. The wreath consists of five candles, one for each week, representing different aspects of Christ's birth (Shepherd's Angel's etc.) and one Christ candle. A new candle is lit each week, culminating with the lighting of the Christ candle on Christmas day.
